Google Launches Google Places

Google updated their Local Business Center to the new Google Places on April 20th.  Place Pages will “connect people to information from the the best sources across the web, displaying photos, reviews and essential facts, as well as real-time updates and offers from business owners,” stated John Hanke, VP Google Maps, Earth and Local.

Bing Shopping Updates

Bing Shopping Updates

Bing released a few updates to Bing Shopping this month to “help you research and find what you’re looking for more quickly.”  Some of the updates include a list of product categories on the left, which lead to a drill down to various other categories in the catalog.  After you finally find the product you’re looking for, you can view product details, where to buy, user reviews, cashback, and more.

Google Launches Government Request Tool

Google Launches Government Request Tool

David Drummond, SVP, Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer at Google, announced the release of a new Government Requests tool this week.  The tool will provide users with information about the number of requests for user data or content removal that Google receives from government agencies around the world.  This initial launch only includes data from July – December 2009, but they plan to continue updating the data in six month increments.

More Google Apps Updates

More Google Apps Updates

On April 15th, Google released an update to Gmail that created a simpler way to add attachments – drag files from your desktop and drop into your email.  This update even allows you to “drag multiple files at once, and on a Mac, you can even drag files from folders in the Dock.”
