Google is on the Prowl

Earlier this month, Google made the decision to ban advertisers targeting “cougars” and other ads aimed at targeting older women seeking younger men. Google, however, is taking no action against sites targeting older men seeking younger women or “sugar daddy” advertisements.  “It’s a huge double standard and I think women should just be appalled, “Opdenkelder (founder of CougarLife.com) stated. “CougarLife was made for women…that are just looking for a second chance at love.”

Google recently deemed the site to be “non-family safe” and will not allow its ads to run on Google’s content network. Moving forward, all companies and websites that contain the word “cougar” will be considered adult.  Spokesperson Wendy Rozeluk (Google) stated that sexism did not play a part in Google’s decision.  (via NYT)
