On July 31st, Google introduced location based advertising for Android and iPhone devices. Companies will have the ability to select a local extension for display in Adwords that will display their ads using a user’s GPS position. This feature applies to both mobile applications and mobile browsers displaying Google advertisements. In addition, it will allow users to get maps and contact information for businesses within their current area.
Google announced the acquisition of Invite Media, an “innovative start-up based in New York,” yesterday. Invite Media has developed technology that gives advertisers the ability to optimize display campaigns, across multiple ad exchanges, all in one single interface.

According to a report from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), online advertising achieved its highest Q1 revenue level ever in 2010; with revenues in the US growing to roughly $5.9 billion – represented a 7.5% increase year over year. David Silverman, PwC Assurance Partner, stated that these results are a “sign of health and vitality of online media, and of marketers’ continuing investment in interactive as a cornerstone of their advertising campaigns.” (via IAB)
A few weeks ago, Google released AdWords for mobile, a new mobile interface for AdWords, which provides advertisers with a quick overview of how their account is performing and allows them to easily make changes to keywords and campaigns.
