Google Places for iOS
Earlier this week Google announced the availability of their popular Android application “Places” for iOS devices. The app will allow users to quickly locate businesses within their current proximity. One notable feature, dubbed HotPot, enables users to “add friends to the mix and quickly rate all the places” they already know. Once they’ve added friends, they will also be able to view their friends feedback on businesses (in addition to the standard user / Web ratings).

Skype Acquires Qik
Skype announced the acquisition of Qik, a mobile video software and service company yesterday. Qik currently offers solutions for Android OS, iOS, and Symbian platforms. Verizon Unveils Ten 4G LTE Devices at CES
At Verizon‘s press conference yesterday, they announced 10 upcoming devices built for their 4G LTE network. The list of devices included smartphones, laptops, hotspots, and tablets. Here is a list of all the new devices:

Google Showcases Android 3.0
Yesterday, Google also previewed their new tablet only Android OS, called Honeycomb (Android 3.0). This new version was specifically built for large screen devices and will have a redesigned home screen, browser, email, and will also allow Google Talk users to video chat.
