Palm announced they have launched a promotion from June 18th to July 9th that will discount every paid application in the Catalog by 50%. Palm is planning to subsidize the promotion and pay developers the full retail price for each app. If you’re one of the few users still using WebOS, be sure to checkout the App Catalog and take advantage of the discounts.
Google announced an update to Google Search for Mobile earlier this week that makes it easier for users to find actual mobile apps while they are searching. This update is currently only available for Android and iPhone devices and only in the US, but there are plans to expand to additional countries in the future.

A new version of the Android Market is being released along with many of the new updates coming in Android 2.2 (Froyo). One of the features, allows users to opt in to automatic updates – a feature that is sure to please many. There is a new app in the Android market that allows users to accept credit card payments directly from their Android phone. Just download the app (called Square), plug in a dongle to your headphone jack, swipe the credit card through the dongle, and you get paid! Their system comes contract-free and without monthly fees; users only have to pay a “competitive” transaction rate. Checkout the video for more information.
