How to Manually Install Motorola Droid FRG22D Update

For those of you who still haven’t received the official Froyo OTA and cannot wait any longer, you can now manually install the update to your phone.  Just follow these simple steps and you will be running Froyo in no time.

Download FRG22D HERE, save to your SD card, and rename to “update.zip”
Restart the phone in recovery mode (hold X while turning on)
When the alert icon appears, release X
Press volume up + camera button
Select “apply update.zip” and reboot when finished

Official Froyo Update for Droid Incredible

The official Froyo (Android 2.2) update for the Droid Incredible started rolling our on Friday, August 27th. Similar to other Verizon updates, it will be released in batches over time. If you are like most of the Eris users were when waiting for the 2.1 update, and you just can’t wait any longer there was a Froyo build for the Droid X earlier this month.  To manually install this leak, save the zip file to your SD Card and run the update (note: this will wipe your device).  Visit the Droid World forums today to download the leak!

Verizon issued a statement earlier this week stating “The Android 2.2 upgrad continues to be rolled out in phases…”  So if you haven’t received the update to Froyo yet, don’t lose hope – it’s still on the way.
