Thunderbolt OTA Coming in Q2 2011
Rumors are starting to surface around the web that the HTC Thunderbolt will receive an OTA update soon. In a recent response to a user support inquiry, an HTC rep stated that an OTA update to Gingerbread was coming in Q2 2011.
This information, along with a laundry list of Android 2.3 features were also mentioned in her response. Although an exact date hasn’t been confirmed it’s always nice when the information is generated by an HTC rep.

Google Utilizes Global Kill Switch on Malicious Apps
Google was made aware of an issue with a little over 20 applications in the Android Market that were malicious. These apps gained system access when downloaded and intercepted and secretly transmitted private data from user’s handsets to third party servers. To make matters worse, some of these apps have been downloaded over 50,000 times.

Introducing Google Offers
After being turned down by Groupon last year, Google started working on it’s own coupon platform – called “Google Offers.” The service offers restaurant, shopping, and other local deals and are sent to users daily via email. Users can also share the deals with their friends on social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and Google Buzz.

Google Voice Supports Incoming Number Ports
Google officially released an update that enables users to port their own number into their Google Voice account. To set this up, click on settings, then voice settings. Follow the number porting instructions on the page and you’re done.
