Over 200,000 Apps in Android Market
AdroLib.com, an independent firm tracking the Android Market, recently reported that Google‘s Android Market now has over 200,000 applications. The site is also reporting that new app submissions have continued to increase monthly, and many believe Android will continue to rapidly increase global market share next year. (via AndroLib)
Nexus One Gingerbread Update Coming Soon…
Google announced that the Nexus One will receive an update to Gingerbread (Android 2.3) in the next couple of weeks. The update will be delivered OTA, and will provide users with an alert and instructions on how to complete the update process. No timeline has been given on how long it will take to deliver Android 2.3 to all Nexus One phones, or which areas will receive the batched update first. (via Google)
Google Sets Sights on Another Coupon Company?
Unfortunately for Google, the deal with Groupon died on the table earlier this month. The New York Post is reporting that Google is now on the search for a Groupon-like company so that they can compete with Groupon. If Google succeeds, they will most likely expand rapidly into new markets using their global reach. (via New York Post)
Samsung Galaxy S Sales Exceed 9 Million
Earlier this month, Samsung announced that their Galaxy S Android phone line had exceed more than 9 million units globally. In South Korea, they have sold more than 2 million units – making the Galaxy S more popular than the iPhone (only sold 1.8 million units). Analysts are stating that the Galaxy S is the most popular Android line in the world today.
