Google Responds to Apple’s Activation Claim
During last week’s keynote, Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, stated that they were activating ~230,000 iOS devices per day. Jobs also stated, “we think some of our friends are counting upgrades in their numbers.” Google responded, stating that “Android activation numbers do not include upgrades and are, in fact, only a portion of the Android devices in the market since we only include devices that have Google services.” (via CNN)
Apple Showcases Next Generation of Apple TV
Also at last week’s keynote, Apple showcased updates Apple TV – which focuses on streaming media and HD content. The new device is smaller, has power, optical audio and ethernet ports, built in WiFi, and more. It will provide users with MobileMe, Podcast, Flickr, YouTube, and Netflix streaming as well as iTunes rentals. The device is available today for pre-order for just $99. (via Apple)
Apple iOS 4.1 is Official
At last week’s keynote, it was announced that Apple‘s iOS 4.1 will be getting an official release on September 8th. Updates include tons of bug fixes, HDR photos, 3G and bluetooth issues (which have persisted since the device was first released in June), and much more. “All the bugs that we get mails on,” Jobs said. “We think we’ve nailed a lot of them, and we think you’re going to be pretty happy with it.” (via AppleInsider)
