It’s official – Google has just announced the closing of an acquisition deal with Waze. While the terms of the deal weren’t made public, it’s rumored that Google paid around $1.3 billion for the acquisition
After being turned down by Groupon last year, Google started working on it’s own coupon platform – called “Google Offers.” The service offers restaurant, shopping, and other local deals and are sent to users daily via email. Unfortunately for Google, the deal with Groupon died on the table earlier this month. The New York Post is reporting that Google is now on the search for a Groupon-like company so that they can compete with Groupon. If Google succeeds, they will most likely expand rapidly into new markets using their global reach. (via New York Post)
