App Inventor Available for General Public

Earlier this week, Google extended invitations for it’s App Inventor to the general public.  App Inventor, a new tool in Google Labs, is an application that makes it extremely easy to create mobile applications for Android devices.  This new tool enables everyone (even non-programmers) to create mobile applications and ‘reshape their communication experience.’

Yahoo Search Android Widget

Yahoo Search Android Widget

Yahoo launched their search widget for the Android platform earlier this month, allowing users to quickly search Yahoo! directly from their home screen using either touch input or voice.  The widget also provides search suggestions to provide a more intuitive search experience.

Although the application is only available in the US, it supports multiple languages for voice search.  Yahoo plans to release additional versions of the widget for other countries soon, however no specific timeline has been publicly reported.

HTC Will Provide Froyo Updates Before End of Year

iPhone Coming to Verizon in January

According to Bloomberg, Verizon will start selling the iPhone in January.  This news, driven by market saturation and network issues on the AT&T network, would also mark the end of AT&T’s exclusivity with Apple on the iPhone.  John Hodulik, UBS AG Analyst, stated that this would dramatically increase the number of iPhones sold in the US, estimating that Verizon users may buy 3 million iPhones per quarter.
