Location Based Google Ads
On July 31st, Google introduced location based advertising for Android and iPhone devices. Companies will have the ability to select a local extension for display in Adwords that will display their ads using a user’s GPS position. This feature applies to both mobile applications and mobile browsers displaying Google advertisements. In addition, it will allow users to get maps and contact information for businesses within their current area.
Groupon Releases Android App
Group released an Android application earlier this week, stating that they received a “ton of requests” for an Android app after the latest update was released to their iPhone app. Initial features include the ability to buy deals, access purchased deals, and locate nearby deals with this app. Group stated they will add more features in the future, however no timeline has been made available. Fring Receives Update
Fring received an update earlier this week addressing many of the issues previously reported by users. Some of the udpates include improvements to audio quality, echoing is fixed, and support for new Android devices. There is still no support for Skype, although many users complain that this is a much needed update.
