Rumors are beginning to surface across the Web that Google is currently working on updates to the Android UI. The goal of the updates is to provide a better user experience on Android – hopefully discouraging custom overlays (e.g. HTC Sense UI) from being developed or necessary. A reduction in the number of custom UI’s will also provide a resolution for Google and users when Android updates are released, as fragmentation / reworking of the custom UI’s would be unnecessary.
Google also updated their mobile search this week, to provide a “consistent look, feel, and overall user experience” to searching with Google on your computer, stated Reza Ziaei and Mike Buchanan of the Google Mobile Engineering Team.
