Droid Incredible owners that have been patiently waiting for root access will finally get their wish – the Android community finally managed to bring root access to the Incredible. This updated process (far better than the original one leaked across the Web earlier this week) has made it almost fool proof (as long as you follow the instructions).

Motorola has been working diligently to get the new Froyo (Android 2.2) update ready and they’ve created a way for users to signup for a forum thread to receive email updates regarding the release of Android 2.2 for the Droid. Users must signup for an account at Motorola’s Website in order to receive updates, but by creating an account could be notified of other updates as well.
The official OTA 2.1 update for the Verizon HTC Droid Eris has begun. It will be released in batches, to roughly 1000 people at a time, incrementally increasing in the number of users each day, with all users anticipated to have received the update by May 16th.

Thumbnail view for home screen
Additional calendar views
Google Maps with Navigation
Enhanced Android Market
Capability to log into multiple Google accounts at once
Desk clock and location-based full screen weather
Androidforums has just posted a new version of the Android 2.1 leak for the Eris. It is reported that this 2.1 v3 leak has a huge list of bug fixes and resolves many of the connectivity issues that users were experiencing with the previous leaks.
