The Federal Trade Commission announced the winners of their Robocall Challenge competition earlier this month, an effort to find ways to stop robocalls. In the announcement, they gave special praise to Google engineers, who proposed the creation of a system that allows users to report, in an online database, the originating phone number of unwanted robocalls, advertisements, or unwanted telemarketing calls.

This is a significant step forward for identifying unwanted solicitations and essentially would make the process as easy as flagging spam emails in your inbox.
