Yahoo acquired Xobni, the maker of mail productivity and address book applications / plugins, earlier this month. The Xobni team announced the purchase on their blog, stating that support for its products would not be stopped for one full year, however “new purchases of premium products are no longer being accepted.”
Although the price is below the $40+ million raised by the startup, it is still the best price the team has been offered and sources state that Xobni’s current CEO Jeff Bonforte (previously served as VP of social search and real-time communications for Yahoo) was of particular interest to the tech giant.
This acquisition continues the purchases announced this month, such as Tumblr, Qwiki, and other mobile app companies.
