How Digital Media Will Impact the 2012 Presidential Election

According to a recent study by Digitas, both social media and digital media will play a significant role in getting a candidate’s message across in the upcoming 2012 election. Jordan Bitterman, SVP at Digitas, stated “JFK is considered the first television President. Next year’s victor may well be determined by the impact of Facebook and Twitter.”

The study found that of social media users, 63% of users expect candidates to have a social media presence and 88% have mobile phones. In addition, at least 40% of users above the age of 55 stated they’d search social media sites for candidate information.
